Your Flow & Glow Aftercare Guide
Congratulations for prioritizing your wellness and choosing lymphatic drainage therapy. You've taken a powerful step toward supporting your body's natural detoxification and healing processes!
Our goal is always to not only provide a high-quality, therapeutic session but to empower you with the tools you need to maximize your results long after you leave our studio. By following these easy steps, you are actively helping to secure a better, longer-lasting outcome from your session.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Drinking plenty of water after your lymphatic massage helps your body flush out the toxins and waste released during the session, keeps your lymph fluid flowing smoothly, and supports a faster, lighter recovery.
Try adding a slice of lemon or cucumber to your water for gentle detox support. Avoid alcohol, sugary drinks, and caffeine right after your session.
Light Movement
Gentle movement after a lymphatic massage helps keep your lymph fluid circulating, allowing your body to continue flushing out toxins and reducing fluid buildup naturally.
Walking diaphragm breathing trampoline/ jumping, Yoga Pilates, light cardio are all great options.
Nourish From Within
Your body is in a healing, cleansing state , so let's give it the right fuel.
Focus on whole foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limit salt and processed foods for at least 48 hours. Herbal teas like ginger, dandelion, or green tea can also support detoxification.
Comfort & Congestion Control
The days immediately following your session are crucial for processing and elimination. It is completely normal to feel a bit tired, sluggish, or slightly "congested" as toxins are being processed.
When resting, elevate your legs by placing a pillow under your ankles for 10–15 minutes, or try legs-against-the-wall . This simple use of gravity assists fluid return toward the heart.
Avoid anything tight or restrictive around your major lymph node areas (neck, armpits, waist, and groin), as tight clothing impedes flow and slows down the elimination process.
The "Detox Flu"
While most clients feel energized after their session, some individuals are more sensitive to the detoxification process. On rare occasions you may experience a brief healing reaction often called a detox flu. Symptoms are typically mild, last less than 24 hours, and may include slight nausea, headache, body aches, or a low-grade fever.
This is a completely normal immune response. Your lymphatic system may be moving dormant bacteria or viruses to the lymph nodes for filtration, and your body is simply working to clear them out. While it may be temporarily uncomfortable, this reaction is a positive sign that your body's natural detoxification and filtration systems are working effectively.
Frequent Bathroom Visits
It is very common to urinate more often or in larger amounts after your massage and this isn't just normal, it's the goal. We worked to gather excess fluid, toxins, and metabolic debris from your tissues during your session. Your body is now efficiently eliminating all of it through your urine, which is exactly how the cleansing process works.
As your body adjusts, be gentle with yourself. This is your time to rest, recover, and let your system work. Your lymphatic system is now actively cleansing, clearing away what's not needed to make room for renewed balance, clarity, and that wonderful inner glow.
Please continue to hydrate well, eat nourishing foods, and listen to what your body is asking for. Healing is a gentle process, not a race. If you have any questions or simply want to check in, don't hesitate to reach out. Your well-being is our top priority, and you are always supported here.
